Skyscrapers are fascinating. I always found them to be so. There is more to these grey-toned chunky blocks of Concrete rocketing high up into the sky than what perceives the eye.
The reason I find them to be so fascinating is simply because Skyscrapers are like people and personalities. You lay the foundations early, and work dexterously on it one day at a time, expanding it layer by layer, nurturing it with the right amount of care, so as to build it into a strong and sturdy art piece that everyone can appreciate. Yes it is art, each one is different from the other, as every architect envisions his work differently. Its again the matter of perspectives.
We build, we expand, we nurture, but the best of Skyscrapers come crashing down in adversities. Perhaps the best laid efforts were not enough? Perhaps the resources were not at par? Perhaps the way we molded its concrete form wasn't right? Perhaps there were cracks in its being that we never managed to see? Or perhaps the earthquake was just too strong, beyond expectations and its capacities to withstand. Which exactly its too difficult to know. All we ought to do is rebuild. Rebuild a taller, stronger, higher skyscraper at the very place that shall serve as a reminder of what was, what could be, and what instead is...
